Our local Grooming crew from the Groveton Trail Blazers and the White Mountain Ridge Runners have to be the best in the business and we need to take time when we have the opportunity to give them the credit that they deserve.  If you see one of the grooming crews in this area let them know that you appreciate what they do for all of the snowmobilers.

The good news for those of you interested in taking a hike or snowshoeing is that there is not enough snow to cause any difficulty getting around in the forest so it is easy walking on the trails almost every where.  There is a little brightness in every dark cloud!

The Montgomery family had a great Christmas and we are seeing some interest in some of the lots that we have for sale which will make it a little easier to complete our second cabin.

We want to wish all of you a Happy new Year and we hope that your New Year will bring all of you much happiness and good health.  We will post changes to the weather and snow conditions so keep in touch and call or email me if you have any questions.

This new snowfall will jump start the snowmobiling in our area and soon we will be hearing the groomers from the Groveton Trailblazers traveling over the trails in our area.

We have activated our web site reservation section on our web site and have received several reservations already for the winter season so if you are interested in knowing what is available please look at our site and the calendar will come up at the reservation site so that you can see what is available and confirm your dates.

The cabin is in great shape and ready for a comfortable stay so just go to the reservation site and make your reservation soon so that you can get the time that you want before someone else reserves your dates.

We are trying to work out some details about storing sleds and trailers for the Winter that may make your travel easier to the North Country. We are also working with some local men to set up a repair business on site that can service and repair your equipment as the need arises so stay tuned and we will let you know how we are coming along with these plans.

As a result we have made the decision to keep the cabins for the time being and will rent the one that we have completed for the Winter snowmobiling season for sure and will honor all reservations that are made before we consider any offers.

Groveton is having their Forth Annual Snow Cross event on February 20 with several local events during that weekend so that should be a very good time to visit our area.

Colebrook is hosting another round of the Vintage Snowmobile Races on February 6, 2010 at Northern Tire and that should be fun for the whole family.  It sure seems funny to see the older style of Snowmobiles with their suspensions of the day running with small single and and twin cylinder engines.  Boy have the technologies changed!

We are in the process of putting some packages together for our new guests and will make those available within the next few weeks.

Our guests have snowmobiled to the Dixville Notch and Magalloway area, the Success and Cambridge area East of the Androscoggin and all through Nash Stream and Dummer Pond areas and have found plenty of snow and good riding.  We have had the most activity of the season at our cabin, “pikepondcabins.com”, and we are thankful for the business.

Our guests have traveled to Berlin and Gorham to eat and while the restaurants weren’t really busy during the week the food and service was reported to be good.  We have a new restaurant that is recently opened in Groveton that will help those looking for eating places near by with all reports that the food and service is good. This new restaurant is accessible by snowmobile from State 5 South.

We have had a good week working on our neighbors and guests equipment and will continue to offer minor repairs to our friends and guests who might need some repairs to their trailers or sleds.  We found and replaced a trailer tire that was about to fail for our guests this week and that was all done so that they didn’t lose a minute of trailtime and I serviced a neighbors sleds for him so that when he arrived on Friday night he was all set to go riding on Saturday AM.  I think that this kind of service will catch on with the people who visit our area and will help us with our cabin rental business.

We had our first vintage snowmobile races of 2010 in Pittsburg NH and by all reports it was a big success if you are interested in more information please give a call and we can put you in touch with someone who can give you more information.

We are in the first week of January”"2010″” and it seems like the winter is going fast.  We had our first big snow of the new year which amounted to 16″ more or less.  It was a light snow but welcomed none the less.  We already had all of our snowmobile trails frozen and had received about a foot of snow before Christmas so this new snow helped to fill in the voids and after a couple of groomings the trails are good in our area.  there are locations near here where they didn’t receive as much snow and that had less snow to start where the conditions are marginal but we have had some neighbors staying in a cabin near us who have traveled over five hundred miles in the last week and were going out again this morning.  They told me that Nash Stream is in good shape and that Phillips Brook was also good riding.  These fellows had been to the Balsams from Pike Pond in Stark NH, and they said their trip went well.  We need more snow to get to the excellent riding that we often have this time of year but overall the riding is good.   We will let everyone know when we get that extra snow.

We are using our Web Reserve system to make reservations for our cabin rental which can be accessed through our web site at Pikepondcabins.com and with the inclusion of Paypal to that system you can choose your dates and make the deposits from your home and it lets us know who is coming and when you will stay.  We are always available to receive your phone calls and will gladly answer any questions that you have.

I will keep everyone posted as to the snow conditions.

We had a little rain over the last several days and thaty has reduced our snow cover by about half of its original amount leaving us with about five to six inches but today we are supposed to get four to six inches of new snow and some more is coming later in the week so we should have ample snow for snowmobiling by the end of this week.  We have had some very cold weather that froze everything solid during the previous three weeks and the snowmobile trails have been groomed and packed so this new snow will be welcomed and should give us some good conditions for the first time this year.

There are signs of the Moose yarding up in their traditional Wintering areas so if you travel into our area be aware if you see moose tracks near the road that you are traveling, “Slow Down” because we are seeing moose again near our roads and the areas that they travel are the areas that you often see them and frequently result in collisions with vehicles.

We have had several of our customers that have reserved their Winter vacations and they seem to find our new reservation system that is available on our web site to be easy to use so any of you that are looking to see availability can look on line or call us and we will be glad to help you.

I will keep updating Waynes Corner as we see changes in our area and would like to receive feedback from those that read this page as to ways that I can make it better and more helpful.
