23    North Country Mud Run & Smoke Show
The show is located at North Main Street, behind Northern Tire, from 11am-4:30 pm. Registration begins at 7:30 am.  Admission is free.  Jumpstart your summer by attending the Mud Run and Smoke show. Who will need a tow out? The mud pit will be dug out, filled with fresh screened mud and ready for the mud run. A ‘North Country Mud Run’ is when the 4×4’s big and small try to make it all the way through the mud pit! Be prepared if you enter your rig to get muddy. A smoke show is when people get to put the pedal to the metal, with the break on and screech their tires ’til they smoke.

31    9th Annual Memorial Day Service
at Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home, Colebrook, 1 p.m. Local veterans who have died this past year will be remembered in a wreath-laying ceremony for their honorable service to our country.

 

JUNE

Cultural/Heritage Festival ~ June 20, 2009

The Cultural Heritage Festival is a full day of festivities for all ages. Families of Canadian, Norwegian, Scandinavian, Russian, German, Irish, and Italian descent will not want to miss this opportunity to participate in this festival. There wouldn’t be a festival without food. There will be food served from the various cultures such as Russian Cabbage Rolls & Radish Salad, German Bratwurst & Sauerkraut, Norwegian Meat Cakes & Potato Salad, Italian Penne & Meatballs, Canadian Meat Pies & Coleslaw, and Irish Dublin Coddle & Soda Bread. There will also be the traditional American BBQ station serving hotdogs, burgers, and fries along with Bean-hole-beans and poutine. There will be plenty of entertainment, crafts, home made sweater sales and baked goods sale. The Androscoggin River Boat Tours will be running all day, starting at 10:00 am, and will continue into the evening.

 

JULY

Thunder in the Mountain - 7/18/2009 & 7/19/2009

Once again, Downtown Main Street in Berlin New Hampshire will host motorcycles of all kinds! Special events, vendors, Poker Run, fireworks - all in the heart of the Androscoggin Valley. This event is proving to be such a great time the committee decided to make it a two day event this year! The rally is headquartered at 220 Main Street in Berlin. The rally starts with a poker run at 9:00 am. Events include a bike show, motorcycle rodeo, vendors, music, fantastic BBQ at Northern Forest Heritage Park fireworks, music, entertainment and more.
