About Pike Pond Cabins
Pike Pond Cabins rest on nearly 200 acres of New Hampshire Wilderness, adjacent to Nash Stream State Forest.
The land is presently owned by Wayne and his wife Deborah, who oversee the operations of PikePond Cabins, his brother John Montgomery and his wife Geraldine and their sister Jill Labonville and her husband Roland.
The land, first purchased by James Edward Montgomery, grandfather of Wayne has been in the Montgomery family for generations. The family intends to keep it that way.
The family’s goal is to preserve as much of the property’s the natural state and pass it on to future generations. The Montgomerys want to avoid selling of parcels of the land to developers and instead want to preserve the rich forests and protect its abundant wildlife, including moose, deer and partridge. To this end the family has come up with a plan to make the property economically self-sustaining.
Central to this plan are the Pike Pond Cabins. The long-term plan is to have five to six cabins strategically located on the property. The Montgomerys goal is to have guests who share their land with those who have the same love and respect for the New Hampshire Mountains. The cabins are constructed with families in mind. All have full kitchens and baths, plenty of heat and hot water and electricity, and enough room for families of up to six.
The Montgomery family has lived in Stark, NH for seven generations. Wayne is no stranger to the woods. He obtained his forestry degree from the University of New Hampshire in the 1970”s and currently owns an excavating business.
Wayne’s wife Deborah is an avid photographer and one couldn’t ask for a more picturesque area to indulge artistic passion. Every season has its own unique beauty and the opportunities for wildlife, landscape, nature and historic photography are endless.
It’s no wonder that for decades professional photographers have come to the areas around Stark, New Hampshire. It’s likely you’ve seen photographs from this area in magazines, on postcards and on other websites besides ours.
